# Recurring Revenue

> Design ongoing services around work that genuinely recurs rather than disguising a one-off project as a retainer.

Recurring revenue reduces the need to rebuild the pipeline from zero every month, but the service must contain recurring value.

## Useful recurring models

### AI optimisation retainer

Monthly review of workflow performance, new opportunities, adoption and roadmap priorities.

### Fractional AI advisor

Regular executive support on use-case prioritisation, governance, vendor selection and investment decisions.

### Managed automation service

Monitoring, maintenance and improvement of implemented automations where this matches your technical capability.

### Quarterly process review

Revisit one or more workflows, identify new friction and refresh the implementation backlog.

### Governance support

Maintain use-case inventory, risk assessments, owner reviews and policy updates where appropriate.

## Define the retainer properly

Specify:

* cadence;
* included outputs;
* response/access model;
* exclusions;
* service limits;
* owner on both sides;
* renewal and cancellation terms.

## Convert at the right moment

A recurring offer is easiest to sell after you have created value and understand the client’s operating rhythm.

## Example transition

> The diagnostic and first implementation have created a backlog of additional opportunities. Rather than treating those as disconnected projects, we can review performance and prioritise the next actions with your team each month. That would include X, Y and Z, with implementation scoped separately where needed.

<Warning>
  Do not promise unlimited consulting access for a low monthly fee. Define what the client is buying.
