## Project economics

**Project gross margin = fee − direct delivery cost**

Track contractor, software and other direct delivery costs, plus the internal time required to deliver the work.

Common payment structures are upfront payment for small engagements, deposit + completion, milestones, monthly billing or a recurring retainer.
