# Interpreting Screen Observation

> Turn observed task detail into process insight without overgeneralising from one participant.

Look for repeated copy/paste, system switching, manual checks, duplicate entry, searching, workarounds, error recovery and hidden approvals.

Separate the levels of inference:

* **Observation:** “The participant opens three systems to complete one update.”
* **Finding:** “The task requires repeated context switching.”
* **Recommendation:** “Assess whether integration or a unified task interface can remove it.”

Compare observations with interviews and other participants. If a behaviour appears in only one session, label it as such until it is validated.
