Look for repeated copy/paste, system switching, manual checks, duplicate entry, searching, workarounds, error recovery and hidden approvals. Separate the levels of inference:
  • Observation: “The participant opens three systems to complete one update.”
  • Finding: “The task requires repeated context switching.”
  • Recommendation: “Assess whether integration or a unified task interface can remove it.”
Compare observations with interviews and other participants. If a behaviour appears in only one session, label it as such until it is validated.
